Database Engineer Job Description

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of enterprise data platforms.

Your primary focus will be on Snowflake and SQL Server, with a strong emphasis on supporting and maturing the Azure data stack. You will bridge operational support and future-focused engineering by maintaining the integrity of existing systems and designing pipelines that enable scalable, cloud-native infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and optimize existing database technologies (Snowflake, SQL Server).
  • Troubleshoot and improve query performance and schema design.
  • Build and manage data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to modernize the data platform.
  • Ensure SLA compliance and effective incident/change management.
  • Show flexibility in working with clients across multiple time zones.
  • Deliver production support for databases and data pipelines, handling incidents, performance bottlenecks, and schema-related changes.
  • Monitor database health and proactively address alerts, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and data warehouse design principles.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with incident/change management tools like JIRA.
