Data Protection Specialist Position

Our organization is seeking an accomplished Data Protection Specialist to oversee global data protection initiatives and provide strategic guidance on complex data protection matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Developing a Global Data Protection Program: Design and implement a comprehensive global data protection program, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Counseling and Training: Offer expert legal advice and training on data protection issues, including AI governance, student data privacy, and international laws.
  3. Compliance and Risk Management: Assist in monitoring compliance with data protection policies, processes, and procedures, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders, providing subject matter expertise, advice, and trainings related to data protection legal and compliance obligations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or equivalent qualification.
  • Enrollment with a State Bar Council under the Bar Council of India and/or passing the All-India Bar Examination, and/or membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of global data protection and privacy laws, with a strong emphasis on U.S. state and federal student data privacy laws and best practices.
  • Expertise in advising on complex data protection and privacy matters, particularly related to FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, etc.
