About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Economist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in economics and a passion for research and analysis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth research and analytics, particularly in the Indian market. They will work closely with macro strategists and regularly interact with the wider team to contribute to regular periodical research.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Econometric Modelling: Develop and maintain econometric models to forecast future trends and risks.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze macroeconomic data (both history and forecasts) to identify economic trends and themes.
  • Market Monitoring: Monitor and assess global economic developments and their potential impact on markets.
  • Research Commentary: Write and publish research commentary to accompany data analysis and discuss market drivers.
  • Macro Projects: Work on macro and market projects of relevance to the Indian market. Conduct secondary research as needed.
  • Ad-Hoc Requests: Handle ad-hoc requests as requested.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's in Economics/MBA/CFA.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of post-qualification work experience as an Economic Analyst/Macro Strategist/Junior Economist dealing primarily with modeling work and research analysis.
  • Skills: Keen interest in global financial markets and knowledge of recent developments. Strong quantitative and mathematical skills with experience working with large amounts of data. Advanced Excel, VBA analytical skills, and knowledge of econometrics.
  • Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to write research reports and comment on market developments. Working knowledge of Python or R is a plus.
  • Database Tools: Knowledge of database tools - Macrobond, CEIC, World Bank, CME, and other financial databases; various central bank (RBI) and statistical websites (e.g. MOSPI).
  • Prior Experience: Prior experience of macro research or equity research in Indian markets is a plus.
  • Deliverables: Ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines, manage multiple research projects without support/supervision, and handle fast-moving economic developments.
