Role Overview

As a Backend Engineer, you will be part of our core engineering team, working closely with leadership and product teams to build a global-scale education platform. You will take end-to-end ownership of features, solving challenges across scalability, system design, performance optimization, and integrations. Your contributions will have a direct impact on millions of students globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Scalable APIs: Use Node.js or equivalent frameworks to create scalable APIs and microservices.
  • Optimize Backend Systems: Ensure performance, security, and reliability through continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver seamless features.
  • Contribute to Architectural Decisions: Participate in choosing technology stack choices and architectural decisions.
  • Write Clean Code: Follow best practices to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Monitor and Improve: Continuously monitor, debug, and improve backend systems.
  • Stay Updated: Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and implement innovative solutions.

Requirements & Skills

  • 2+ years of professional backend development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Node.js, Express.js, or similar frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and caching strategies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and design scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Strong logical reasoning, quick learning ability, and a proactive mindset.
