
Gastroenterology Specialist

A Gastroenterology Technician plays a vital role in supporting gastroenterologists and healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating patients with gastrointestinal disorders. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent patient care abilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for gastrointestinal procedures by greeting them, explaining the process, and addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Ensure patients are comfortable and provide emotional support throughout the procedure.
- Equipment Maintenance: Set up, sterilize, and maintain endoscopy and other specialized equipment before procedures. Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure it functions correctly and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
- Assistance During Procedures: Assist the gastroenterologist during endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies. Pass instruments and supplies to the physician as required and monitor patient vital signs, reporting any abnormalities to the medical team.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information, procedure details, and findings in medical records. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Patient Education: Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients and answer their questions. Offer guidance on diet and lifestyle changes recommended by the gastroenterologist.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a clinical or hospital setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure in high-stress situations
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
