Job Title:

 

 Vehicle Component Engineer

 

The Vehicle Component Engineer will be responsible for coordinating activities necessary to ensure validated release and sign-off of vehicle components. This includes coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure input from all relevant areas.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Design and development of electrical wiring harnesses, busbars, fuses, connectors, relays, routing, and packaging.
  2. Coordinate with systems engineers to implement design changes during program development, prototype, and production build phases according to project timelines.
  3. Develop and manage design specifications, including DFMEA and PFMEA.
  4. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality and process improvements.
  5. Support builds, create supply plans, and engineer solutions for build issues.
  6. Participate in supplier PPAP activities and periodic audits.
  7. Release 3D harness assembly models in product lifecycle management.
  8. Experience of various change management processes like engineering change requests.
  9. Selection of harness coverings based on 3D model routing and packaging.
  10. Develop harness packaging issues list and drive resolution prior to validation builds.

 

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with designing and developing high-voltage battery packs, cells, and modules.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Good knowledge of tooling feasibility, raw materials, and their sources.
  • Knowledge of life cycle of a vehicle and problem-solving techniques.
  • Understanding of DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • Experience of using industry-standard ECR processes.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electrical wiring harness, busbar, fuse, connectors, relays, routing, and packaging in CAD software.
  • Demonstrable experience of system release responsibility from concept to manufacture.
  • Working knowledge of project delivery processes.
