Unlock Your Potential as an Augmented Reality Developer

Vrarri/Japan XR Center is dedicated to making VR training accessible from multiple devices.

We are seeking a skilled Freelance AR Developer to join our team and help us achieve this goal.

About the Role:

  • Create mobile AR features, specializing in Unity, including markerless/object tracking, plane/mesh, depth & occlusion, anchors, and hit-testing.
  • Integrate OpenCV for augmented AR interactions, utilizing image/object detection and segmentation.
  • Optimize for real-time performance across iOS/Android, focusing on frame time, memory, garbage collection, and thermal considerations.
  • Own debugging and release pipelines (Xcode, Gradle, TestFlight/internal testing) and write concise technical notes.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years hands-on AR development experience with Unity (AR Foundation 4/5), ARCore & ARKit features in production apps.
  • Proven object tracking expertise with image/object databases and runtime updates, as well as OpenCV integration.
  • Strong profiling and optimization skills on mobile platforms using Unity Profiler, Xcode Instruments, and Android Profiler.
  • Proficiency in Git, CI basics, modular code, and excellent troubleshooting abilities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Shader Graph/HLSL for lightweight VFX/occlusion tricks, Sentis/Barracuda or on-device machine learning, and Niantic Lightship.
  • Shipping experience to App Store/Play and automated build/test processes.
