Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Team Leader to oversee daily food production in one of our kitchen sections, ensuring high-quality dishes are prepared consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs, coaches, supports, supervises, and evaluates all direct reports, working closely with the Senior Chef to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
  • Requires excellent food knowledge and a deep understanding of culinary terms, as well as the ability to read, understand, and prepare recipes while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Must be proficient in completing tasks efficiently and productively, with the ability to work in any section of the kitchen.
  • Candidates must also be able to coordinate and supervise all team members assigned to their section, assign and delegate tasks accordingly.

Financial Acumen:

  • This position is responsible for cost containment through proper use, handling, and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment.
  • The successful candidate will identify potential expense reductions through cost control, analyze operational problems, establish controls, and review timesheets for approval.
  • May also prepare various reports and letters using computer systems and equipment.

Motivational Leadership:

  • Monitors and manages assigned workstation functions, staff assignment, and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service are met.
  • Observes and evaluates staff and work procedures to make recommendations regarding personnel actions such as new hire requests and discharges.

Qualifications and Education:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting service, with at least 2 years as Culinary Team Leader (shipboard experience preferred).
  • A culinary school degree is required, along with strong leadership skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
