Job Title: DB2 Database Architect

This role is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and management of our organization's DB2 database environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DB2 administration, performance tuning, high availability, backup/recovery strategies, and troubleshooting critical production issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement DB2 database architectures to meet business requirements.
  • Perform database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Implement and enforce database security, user access control, and compliance standards to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with application teams to support database design, query optimization, and schema changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, outages, and performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain DBA documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Support automation initiatives for DB2 administration and monitoring to improve efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in DB2 database administration (LUW and/or z/OS).
  • Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HADR, Data Sharing, and replication technologies.
  • Proficiency in backup/recovery strategies, DR planning, and execution.
  • Solid understanding of database security, roles, and privileges.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting (Shell/Perl/Python) and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of OS-level concepts (Linux/Unix/Windows) related to DB2.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to work in 24x7 production environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Good to Have:
  • Exposure to cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of other RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with DevOps/CI-CD integration for databases.
