Senior Backend Engineer for AI-Powered User Experiences

Our company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services for our global art information platform. In this role, you will work on integrating advanced AI/ML models into production systems, powering features such as recommendations, personalization, and intelligent search.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about backend engineering and excited to bring AI-powered user experiences to life at scale. Experience in recommendation systems is a strong advantage but not a strict requirement.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, Build, and Maintain Backend Services: Develop robust backend services in Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Integrate Machine Learning Models: Collaborate closely with ML engineers and product teams to integrate machine learning models into production APIs and pipelines for recommendations and personalization.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-driven features that meet business requirements.
  • Develop Low-Latency APIs: Develop high-performance APIs for serving recommendations and intelligent results using vector databases (Qdrant, Pinecone, Elasticsearch, etc.)
  • Deploy and Monitor Services: Deploy, monitor, and scale services in cloud environments (AWS preferred) ensuring high uptime and performance.
  • Contribute to System Architecture: Contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and design decisions to ensure the best possible outcome for the company.
  • Implement CI/CD Pipelines: Implement CI/CD pipelines with strong testing and code quality practices to ensure fast and reliable delivery of software.
Requirements:
  • Strong Understanding of Backend Architecture: Strong understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems with the ability to design scalable and performant systems.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven track record of building and deploying production-ready APIs with a strong focus on reliability and scalability.
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms: Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Database Expertise: Strong understanding of database concepts including SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis, Elasticsearch).
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote team settings with the ability to communicate technical ideas effectively.
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Recommendation Systems: Experience with recommendation systems or personalization pipelines with a strong focus on delivering personalized user experiences.
  • Vector Databases: Familiarity with vector databases and embedding-based search with the ability to implement efficient search algorithms.
  • Frontend Integration: Knowledge of frontend development including React, Next.js, and GraphQL with the ability to integrate with backend services.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Experience monitoring and optimizing ML-powered production systems with tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
