Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned Data Protection Specialist to oversee our organization's data protection and privacy initiatives. This role will focus on providing strategic legal guidance on data protection matters, with an emphasis on U.S. laws.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Data Protection Specialist. In this role, you will serve as the key point of contact for general data protection, privacy, and security-related matters.

  • Provide strategic legal guidance on a broad spectrum of privacy and data protection issues, emphasizing student data privacy, international laws, compliance obligations, AI, data privacy in contracts, etc.
  • Support the development and implementation of our global data protection and privacy program, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders, providing subject matter expertise, advice, and trainings related to data protection legal and compliance obligations.
  • Assist with and monitor compliance with our data protection and privacy policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Raise awareness and help create effective training and guidance to promote best practices and drive a data protection and privacy-oriented culture.
  • Support data governance and compliance efforts, including preparing and overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), and other data protection and privacy compliance documentation.

This role requires strong analytical and research skills to navigate complex data protection and privacy questions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply risk-balanced, practical legal guidance to these challenges.
