System Security Specialist

Job Overview:

We seek a seasoned System Security Specialist to ensure the secure operation of our systems. The ideal candidate will oversee policy implementation, assess system vulnerabilities, and maintain disaster recovery plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures based on industry standards.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plans for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
  • Conduct research on emerging security threats and products.

Operational Management:

  • Deploy, manage, and maintain all security systems and their corresponding software.
  • Administer end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Manage connection security for local area networks, web sites, intranets, and email communications.
  • Ensure the security of databases and data transferred internally and externally.
  • Perform penetration testing to identify system vulnerabilities.
  • Implement and report on security audits and activity monitoring.
  • Monitor server logs, firewall logs, and network traffic for suspicious activity.
  • Recommend fixes and security patches in the event of a breach.

Requirements:

  • College diploma or university degree in computer science or 7+ years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in computer science.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, and encryption techniques.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network administration protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers.
