Hiring for Senior Associates in Indirect Tax Litigation

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle tax matters, preparing submissions and replies to notices, appeals, meeting tax authorities, and representation during appeals.
  • Assist clients in responding to the department during enquiries, investigations, and audits.
  • Prepare replies to show cause notices and audit replies.
  • Meet with tax officers for hearings as required.
  • Prepare tax appeals for the Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court (Tribunal, High Court / Supreme Court).
  • Assist seniors in representation before judicial forums.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on various topics.
Client Service Delivery:
  • Proactively identify and discuss technical issues with clients while considering firm risk issues.
  • Execute work on a multiple client base, assuming near independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.
Commercial Acumen:
  • Stay updated on firm-wide and competitor activities, as well as general business trends.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver solutions to clients, bringing value to them and their manager.
Networking & Identification of Opportunities:
  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate with seniors.
  • Network internally to gain understanding of issues impacting clients.
Knowledge Development:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in tax and other laws.
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge management activities.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Strong analytical and researching skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented.
Experience and Education:
  • Law graduate from a known law school with a strong academic record.
  • 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax, preferably GST and Customs.
