Overview of the Role

This position, under the general direction of the Lead and/or Manager, Software Engineering, will be responsible for technical and development support for PowerSchool's award-winning K-12 software.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of an Agile SCRUM team in the planning, scoping, estimation, and execution of technical solutions;
  • Developing scalable web applications and services;
  • Investigating and resolving issues reported for a large web application following best practices such as authoring or updating unit tests, writing maintainable code, applying established patterns and algorithms;
  • Analyzing performance and developing improvements to performance of web application;
  • Assisting with security updates to web application;
  • Performing upgrades to 3rd party libraries and tools used by the web application;
  • Implementing new web application software features and products following best practices such as authoring of unit tests, writing maintainable code, applying established patterns and algorithms;
  • Specializing in client or server side web application development as a member of a project team;
  • Familiarity with the full technical stack;
  • Developing software to support internal initiatives, tools, update framework and application functionality;
  • Working within a wide range of new and legacy code and technologies in a mature codebase;
  • Training and mentoring new and more junior software engineers.
Qualifications

To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in Engineering like BE or B-Tech or 3 years Master in computer application (MCA);
  • At least 3+ years of experience in the Software industry;
  • At least 3+ years of experience in SQL and PL/SQL;
  • Experience working with Database like Oracle preferably or other RDBMS;
  • Good Experience in client-side JavaScript or Typescript and related framework and libraries such as Angular and Jquery;
  • Experience using tools such as SQL Developer, Perforce, Jira and Git;
  • Problem solving and debugging skills;
  • Understanding of the Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC);
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum Teams;
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior team members;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Desire to learn, grow, and improve;
  • A passion and natural curiosity for technology;
  • Good to have experience in Object oriented programming in Java or Typescript;
  • Good to have knowledge of Spring MVC, Hibernate, Webservices.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
