Backend Developer Job Description

About the role:

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Node.js (ES6+) and back-end JavaScript/TypeScript, solid experience building and scaling APIs (REST, GraphQL), and familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and ORMs.

The successful candidate will be able to design, build, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs used across eCommerce and automation platforms, architect and optimize microservices for performance, resilience, and scalability, collaborate with front-end, AI, and infrastructure teams to integrate services seamlessly, ensure APIs are secure, well-documented, and developer-friendly, debug, monitor, and improve existing API endpoints to reduce latency and improve throughput, and explore innovative solutions for system bottlenecks, data flow, and third-party integrations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using Node.js and back-end JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Develop and implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs for eCommerce and automation platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate services and ensure seamless communication.
  • Ensure APIs are secure, well-documented, and easy to use.
  • Debug and improve existing API endpoints to reduce latency and improve throughput.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong proficiency in Node.js (ES6+) and back-end JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Solid experience building and scaling APIs (REST, GraphQL).
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and ORMs.
  • Understanding of authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth, JWT).
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Nice to Have:

Experience with API gateways (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway), knowledge of DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD), familiarity with AI/automation integrations, and background in eCommerce or payment systems would be beneficial.
