Job Description

The Visual Effects Specialist - Render Engineering is a critical role responsible for streamlining the rendering process across multiple Digital Content Creation (DCC) applications. This professional ensures that all visual effects and lighting shots are rendered efficiently with high quality, leveraging compatible render engines.

We seek an experienced professional with 8 to 10 years of experience in the field.

  • Rendering Workflow Management:
  • Compile issue shots based on render engine settings for performance and user support.
  • Coordinate effectively with the client team to ensure renders meet production quality and deadlines.
  • Pipeline & Troubleshooting Support:
  • Create and support tools, scripts, and automation to improve and fasten rendering efficiency.
  • Integrate new render engines and plugins into the production pipeline based on industry standards.
  • Maintain and integrate with render farm application manager.
  • Identify and resolve rendering issues such as high read time of shots, crashes, and memory issues.
  • Work closely with Supervisors, Lighters, and Compositors to deliver high-quality frames.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to artists for resolving rendering-related issues.
  • Communicate render time predictions and resource requirements to Production.
  • Quality Assurance & Innovation:
  • Ensure renders meet studio's color space, AOV, and render pass requirements for compositing.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest rendering technologies and industry best practices.
  • Suggest workflow improvements to increase productivity and reduce render costs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Software Expertise:
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Maya, Blender, Houdini, 3ds Max. Proficiency with render engines like Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, RenderMan, Cycles, Karma, and plugins like Yeti, XGen, Golaem.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of rendering pipelines, shading, lighting, and AOV/pass setup. Experience with render farm management. Proficiency in Python scripting and familiarity with MEL, MAXScript, HScript for tool development. Knowledge of PBR workflows, USD pipeline integration, and CPU/GPU rendering.
  • Other Requirements: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex render issues. Understanding of Linux/Windows environments for render farm and pipeline operations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in VFX/CGI for film, TV, or high-end animation projects.
  • Experience of building Lighting and compositing production pipeline tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based rendering solutions.
  • Exposure to USD-based workflows and real-time rendering pipelines.
