Job Overview

This is a technical role focused on ensuring high-quality IT infrastructure support for datacentres, platforms, and corporate systems.

  • AIX Server management
  • SAN and storage array management would be advantageous
  • Backup, Replication, HA, and Recovery technologies
  • AIX Server Security Management
  • AIX Server hardware

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage AIX Servers to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Implement backup and replication strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans to minimize downtime.

Organisational Structure

This position reports to the Infrastructure Head within the Infrastructure department.

Team Responsibilities

The team manages all development, UAT, pre-production, production, and DR environments as well as internal corporate IT systems.

Performance Indicators

  • Availability: Ensure uptime SLAs are met by resolving issues, performing scheduled maintenance, and managing third-party support contracts.
  • Performance: Monitor system performance, capacity, and growth; suggest and implement improvements.
  • Information Security: Follow policies and procedures to ensure network and system security; document for audit purposes.
  • Business Continuity: Ensure regular backups, participate in yearly BCP & DR tests, and ensure new builds meet company requirements.
  • Training: Develop professional and technical knowledge and skills; provide technical advice and mentoring within the team.
  • Project Work: Implement new projects to meet project timelines and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry certifications and experience.
  • AIX operating system administration skills.
  • Knowledge of automation scripting.
  • Keen interest in and knowledge of latest server and storage technologies.
  • Successfully implemented Infrastructure projects.
  • Good team player with ability to work independently and drive change.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident in dealing with clients.
  • Superior problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent time-management skills – ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
