The Global Markets and Global Credit Finance Business Units, as well as the Corporate Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, and Enterprise Risk Management Corporate Functions, rely on our expertise to ensure effective risk management and internal controls. As an embedded member of the first line of defense, you will work closely with Operations aligned Risk Advisors to drive a strong culture of risk excellence and ensure business line controls for Operations are designed and operating effectively.

This role is perfect for a professional who can cultivate and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across the organization. You will be responsible for leading regular Operations aligned Risk Forums, identifying emerging risks, supporting self-identification of issues, recognizing training needs, and serving as the primary point of escalation for any non-financial risk concerns in Operations.

You will lead operations applicable risk assessments, operational key risk indicator (ORKI) identification and oversight, and resulting control design and implementation activities. Additionally, you will maintain a complete view of all Assurance events, Audit and regulatory Exams scheduled for Operations and assist Operations with preparation, guidance, and support.

Your focus will be on ensuring risk management and internal controls are assessed and adapted appropriately within Operations transformation and change management initiatives. You will also ensure Operations has ongoing adherence to Issues & Incidents policy requirements and serve in a review and challenge role from identification through the completion of remediation activities by Operations first line process owners.

This role requires strong organizational collaboration and communication capabilities, as well as the ability to successfully facilitate and resolve conflicts. You must be able to make informed, risk-optimized decisions under pressure and demonstrate a propensity to drive issues toward resolution.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 11-15 years of experience in risk, compliance, and/or audit functions within the financial industry
  • Additional experience as a first-line process owner in a large financial institution preferred
  • Demonstrated success in strengthening the internal control environment and risk mitigation in a prior first or second-line role
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory, operational, market, and technology risks and risk management frameworks applicable to financial services
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and expectations for Operations within the State Street organization
