Key System Administrator Role

This is a high-level system administrator position that involves ensuring the stability and performance of our database systems.

  • Databases Administration: We are looking for someone with experience in installing, configuring, and upgrading MySQL databases. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in setting up and monitoring replication, managing users, and troubleshooting issues like metadata locks and slow queries.
  • Linux Server Management: In addition to database administration, this role requires strong Linux server management skills. The successful candidate will be able to manage user accounts, monitor processes, update packages, and check system resources.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implementing and monitoring backup processes using tools like mysqldump or Percona XtraBackup is crucial in this role. The person we are looking for should be able to create and manage backups, as well as troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the recovery process.
  • Patching and Security: Our team needs someone who can perform routine patching, upgrades, and security hardening for MySQL and Linux environments. This includes staying up-to-date with the latest security threats and implementing measures to prevent them.
  • Troubleshooting: As a key member of our team, the successful candidate will be responsible for resolving L2 support tickets and escalating complex issues to L3 with proper RCA inputs.
  • DR Planning and Audits: Participating in DR drills, capacity planning, and system audits is an essential part of this role. The person we are looking for should be able to analyze data and make informed decisions to ensure the continuity of our business operations.
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base documentation is critical in this position. The successful candidate will be able to document their work and provide clear instructions for others to follow.

This role requires a strong understanding of database administration, Linux server management, and troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with MySQL, Linux, and backup/recovery tools. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
