Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Freelance SOC Analyst to work remotely, focusing on security monitoring, incident detection, and response using IBM QRadar and Microsoft Sentinel. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Security Operations Center (SOC) environments, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate threats in real time.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, Analyze, and Investigate Security Alerts: Utilize SIEM tools (IBM QRadar & Microsoft Sentinel) to identify potential security threats.
  • Identify, Triage, and Respond to Security Incidents: Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents across enterprise systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and Fine-Tune Correlation Rules, Alerts, and Dashboards: Create and refine rules, alerts, and dashboards to enhance threat detection capabilities.
  • Conduct Log Analysis: Analyze logs from multiple sources (firewalls, servers, endpoints, applications, cloud) to identify security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with Security Teams: Work closely with security teams to implement threat detection and incident response playbooks.
  • Provide Detailed Reports: Present regular reports on incidents, vulnerabilities, and security posture improvements.
  • Continuously Improve Detection Capabilities: Stay up-to-date with the latest threat intelligence feeds to improve detection capabilities.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry best practices and security policies.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience working in a SOC environment with exposure to incident detection and response.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with IBM QRadar and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Knowledge of log analysis, SIEM tuning, and security event correlation.
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence, MITRE ATT&CK framework, and incident response procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Certifications such as SOC Analyst, CEH, CompTIA Security+, Splunk, Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (SC-200).
  • Knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS).
