Job Role

A Mechanical Design Engineer for Tech Innovation Group is required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create mechanical components and assemblies for high-reliability products in harsh environments, including enclosures rated IP65/IP68.
  • Develop 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings using SolidWorks or equivalent tools to align with manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with prototyping efforts using methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and plastic molding.
  • Select materials and manufacturing processes that meet mechanical, thermal, and environmental needs.
  • Analyse tolerance, stress, and thermal requirements to ensure mechanical robustness and compliance with design specifications.
  • Work with electronics and software engineering teams to integrate mechanical systems in multi-disciplinary systems seamlessly.
  • Oversee testing and validation of mechanical components and systems, including fit, form, and function assessments.
  • Document manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance processes comprehensively.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and contribute innovative ideas for next-generation product development.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting using SolidWorks (CSWP certification preferred), Creo, or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical enclosure design, especially for IP65/IP68-rated products and rugged environments.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and injection molding.
  • In-depth understanding of material selection, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical design calculations (stress, thermal, vibration).
  • Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles to optimize designs for cost-effective production.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, technical drawing standards, and compliance with industry norms (ASME, ISO).
  • Experience in preparing BOMs, assembly drawings, and detailed documentation for production and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and communication across engineering functions.

Educational & Other Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience in defence, industrial, or ruggedized product development is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant industry experience.
