The role of a US Tax Associate is to provide tax compliance, tax preparation, and expert advice on tax matters. This position requires an in-depth understanding of tax laws and regulations.
Key responsibilities include preparing personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns along with other tax elections, applying provisions of the US tax treaty to cross-border tax transactions, and assisting with sales tax filings and registrations.
Additional tasks involve assisting with cross-border transactions and other tax planning initiatives, preparing assigned sections of working papers to support income tax return filings, and collaborating closely with partners and senior staff to develop and implement effective strategies and client tax planning assignments.
This role also involves establishing relationships with clients and gaining a solid understanding of their business operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in preparing and reviewing 1040 personal income tax returns and 1120 corporate income tax returns.
- Public accounting experience preferably in tax.
- Effective communication skills to interact with clients for their tax matters.
- A bachelor's degree preferably in accounting.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's of Commerce.
- Ability to complete engagements with limited supervision.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
- Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
