About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Solar Design Expert with strong SketchUp expertise to create efficient, practical, and aesthetically aligned solar solutions that meet technical and structural requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate 2D and 3D rooftop solar designs in SketchUp, taking into account site surveys, roof dimensions, and structural drawings.
  • Create precise SketchUp models of solar panels, mounting structures, rooftop elements, and obstacles, ensuring accurate measurements and visualization.
  • Apply mounting structure libraries to design panel layouts that meet technical and structural requirements, optimizing panel placement for maximum rooftop space utilization while maintaining shading and clearance guidelines.
  • Identify and incorporate rooftop obstacles, such as water tanks, HVAC systems, and vents, into the design, ensuring safe and feasible installations.
  • Making design decisions such as:
  • Leaving sufficient gaps for cleaning and maintenance access.
  • Adding overhangs where necessary to maximize generation while ensuring safety and feasibility.
  • Create multiple views and scenes in SketchUp to effectively communicate design intent and facilitate collaboration.
  • Optimize panel placement for maximum rooftop space utilization while maintaining shading and clearance guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in SketchUp solar design, preferably with rooftop PV projects.
  • Strong understanding of rooftop solar project requirements, including shading considerations and structural layouts.
  • Ability to interpret technical inputs and apply them within workable models, demonstrating attention to detail and good visualization skills.
  • Familiarity with solar mounting structures and their applications within designs.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sketchup and Skalion software.
  • Knowledge of solar engineering basics, including tilt, azimuth, orientation, shading, and generation estimates.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality solar designs that meet technical and structural requirements, while ensuring efficiency, practicality, and aesthetic appeal.
