Job Overview

To create a cutting-edge digital solutions team for large Container Ships, we seek an experienced Senior Subject Matter Expert in Naval Architecture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Benchmark and develop innovative digital twin models for new and existing Container vessels.
  • Identify relevant data sets required to build accurate Container Ship Digital Twins.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to provide domain expertise for building the Digital Twin.
  • Design models that incorporate fuel performance curves, vessel hydrodynamic stability, safety thresholds at adverse weather conditions, power decomposition, and other essential parameters.
  • Model the impact of various factors affecting fuel consumption, including windage, vessel speed, drift, trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, engine condition, wave impact, wind impact, currents impact, and others.
  • Develop derived parameters like Trim, Metacentric Height, Windage, etc., from diverse sources of base data.
  • Create tactical solutions for preventing Parametric and Synchronous rolling, including alerting methods and recommendations.
  • Optimize sharing vessel digital twin models for weather re-routing when necessary.
  • Develop AI/ML solutions recommending optimal vessel speed through water, overconsumption alerts, fouling margin, and other relevant parameters.
  • Present Vessel Digital Twins to end-users, as per project deliverables.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 12-20 years of experience in naval architecture, ship design, vessel digital twin development, fuel performance curves, etc. for reputable shipping companies or service providers.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in conceptualizing and building Container Vessel fuel consumption curves and other ship hydrodynamic performance models.
  • Familiarity with building or running solutions like Vessel Digital Twin, Vessel Hydrodynamic Simulation, etc.
  • Exceptional understanding and/or experience of Data Science subjects, including simulation, optimization, ML models, etc.
  • Strong consulting skills, leadership in uncertain and ambiguous situations, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, spoken, written, and client-facing roles.
