Job Description

The primary role of a systems programmer is to develop, test and maintain the software that controls a computer's operating system, hardware and other systems software.

As a skilled professional in this field, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of computer systems and working closely with other IT professionals to design and implement cutting-edge technology.

You will provide underlying Mainframe operating system platform programming and DBDC subsystem programming support that forms the backbone of our applications.

As a leader in this field, you will conduct RCA discussions for the products you work on and provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, test and maintain software that controls a computer's operating system, hardware and other systems software
  • Ensure the security of computer systems
  • Work closely with other IT professionals to design and implement cutting-edge technology
  • Provide underlying Mainframe operating system platform programming and DBDC subsystem programming support
  • Conduct RCA discussions for products worked on
  • Provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in z/OS and ISV product support
  • Expertise in z/OS operating system and system components
  • Strong problem determination and remediation skills, with experience in root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of OS components, networking, storage and modernization software
Preferred Skills and Experience

While not required, it would be beneficial if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Ability to lead technical projects and participate in project teams impacting the z/OS platform
