Ship Design Expert Wanted

We are seeking a Ship Design Expert to collaborate with our data scientists and develop digital solutions for container ships. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ship design, including digital twins, fuel consumption-power curves, and vessel hydrodynamic performance models.

The role involves analyzing container ship operations data, conceptualizing building digital twins of large container vessels, identifying relevant data needed to build the digital twin, guiding data scientists with domain inputs for building the digital twin, developing digital twin models, modeling the effect of various parameters affecting fuel consumption, building derived parameters, and developing tactical solutions for avoiding parametric and synchronous rolling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze container ship operations data (historical, noon reports, EEXI reports, HF data)
  • Conceptualize building Digital Twin of large Container vessels (new and old ships in the fleet)
  • Identify relevant data needed to build Container Ship Digital Twin
  • Guide Data Scientists with domain inputs for building the Digital Twin
  • Develop Digital Twin models including Fuel Performance Curves, Vessel Hydrodynamic Stability, Vessel Safety thresholds at bad weather conditions, Power decomposition, and other models
  • Model the effect of windage, vessel speed, Drift, Trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, Engine condition, waves impact, wind impact, currents impact, and other parameters affecting fuel consumption
  • Build derived parameters like Trim, Metacentric Height, Windage etc from various sources of base data
  • Develop tactical solutions for avoiding Parametric and Synchronous rolling, including methods to alert concerned people with right recommendations
  • Share vessel digital twin models for weather re-routing where necessary
  • Develop AI/ML solutions recommending vessel speed through water, overconsumption alerts, fouling margin etc
  • Visualize Vessel Digital Twin for end-users, if necessary as per project deliverables
  • Scan and recommend process improvements, statutory guideline and updates, benchmarking (where necessary) in the areas mentioned above
