Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to support our India and APAC regions. This is a remote six-month contract position with the potential to extend and/or transition into a permanent role.

• Draft, review, and negotiate partnership contracts, commercial contracts, marketing and advertising contracts, vendor contracts, and IT contracts for India, APAC, and MENA regions.
• Prepare and update form contracts, collaborating with Emeritus regional counsel as necessary.
• Provide guidance on higher education laws and regulations impacting operations in India, APAC, and MENA.
• Train internal clients on contracting processes and practices.
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts on intercompany transactions.
• Work within an increased volume of activity in business-critical legal matters across diverse types of transactions and territories.

• LLB Degree and enrollment as an Advocate on the rolls of the Bar Council of at least one State.
• 5+ years of demonstrated legal experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements for various commercial matters based on India, APAC, and MENA laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in English language required.
• Experience as in-house counsel of a global technology or higher education organization is preferred.
• Familiarity with laws impacting higher education is a plus.

• Strategic thinking and strong business acumen.
• Quality-oriented with a focus on detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience interacting with small, close-knit team members and advising business units globally.
