Job Description:

A senior technical solutions manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of vessel retrofit projects from conceptualization to commissioning.

This role demands a hands-on approach to managing engineering design reviews, interactions with classification societies, negotiations with vendors, and real-time problem-solving during retrofits involving basic energy efficiency technologies like LEDs and variable frequency drives (VFDs) to highly complex energy-efficient technologies (EETs) such as waste heat recovery systems (WAPS), advanced lighting systems (ALS), shore power, and carbon capture systems (CCS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Retrofit Management - Own retrofit projects from inception to completion, including feasibility analysis, layout planning, material flow, vendor timelines, and yard coordination.
  • Engineering & Electrical Integration - Review design drawings, electrical interface scopes, and class/flag submissions. Collaborate with engineering vendors and classification societies for approvals.
  • Techno-Commercial Offers & ROI - Prepare technical offers with return on investment (ROI) calculations, bonus/policy models, and energy efficiency metrics for internal and client-facing stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination - Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, charterers, yards, OEMs, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Project Documentation & RACI - Develop and manage project RACI charts, technical specifications, work orders, and commissioning plans, maintaining project-related records.
  • Hull/Paint Strategy & Execution - Lead hull modification and paint selection discussions (e.g., silicone-based coatings, advanced antifouling systems) and coordinate yard/OEM execution during dry dockings.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You are a Marine Engineer (Class 1 – Motor) with 1 to 2 years' experience in technical management or yard roles.
  • Prior hands-on experience in retrofit exposure - exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS), ballast water treatment systems (BWTS), scrubbers, VFDs, ducts, propellers, and hull paint.
  • Comfortable participating in design reviews, electrical integration, and classification society interactions.
  • Business Acumen - ROI modeling, proposal creation, cost vs savings analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, Power BI, Advanced Excel, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) exposure (Optional).
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
