Overview

The Principal - Data Management will serve as a corporate data steward and resident expert in data availability, logical organization, and relationships between data elements and business practices. This role will support Skillsoft's strategic studies by ensuring data hygiene processes are followed by business partners, data assets are available, and ready for analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement enterprise data infrastructure, ensuring the underlying logic and structure for how data is set up, cleansed, and stored for organizational usage.
  • Develop a pragmatic Knowledge Management strategy to support Skillsoft's analytical strategy across various business areas.
  • Build robust systems and reusable code modules to solve problems across the team and organization, with an eye on long-term maintenance and support.
  • Partner with Product Owners and cross-functional teams in a collaborative and agile environment.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise to enable and share best practices and reusable tools and code for the analyst community.
  • Champion the standardization of processes that generate data elements used in analysis and maintain documentation on lineage and definitions of data elements.
  • Establish forward-looking data and technology objectives and develop strategies and actions for the team to achieve them.
  • Manage a small team through project deliveries, mentor other engineers, and develop technical knowledge and skills to keep the enterprise on the cutting edge of technology.
  • Design rich data visualizations and interactive tools and solutions to communicate complex ideas to customers and company leaders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Information Technology, CIS, CS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering/Data Management space and working with enterprise-level production data warehouses.
  • 3+ years of experience in building cloud data applications (data lake, cloud data warehouse, cloud analytical servers) and deep understanding of cloud computing (Azure preferred).
  • 3+ years of proven SQL Server experience building and supporting Data Warehouse structures and supporting end-user reporting tools such as Tableau/Power BI/SSRS.
  • Highly proficient in data architecture and conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
  • Experience in setting data design/architecture standards and best practices, leading forums to review initiatives and ensure adherence to guidelines.
  • Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end-users.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and technical abilities.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and ability to move complex projects forward.

Salary Estimate:$150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
