We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Music Professor in our Department of Fine and Performing Arts. As an Assistant Professor, you will be responsible for teaching courses in Carnatic music theory and performance, contributing to curriculum development, guiding research, and participating in departmental and institutional activities.

The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching courses in Carnatic music theory and performance, including vocal and instrumental instruction, as well as guiding research projects and collaborating with other faculty members. You will also participate in organizing concerts, workshops, seminars, and lecture-demonstrations, and assist in curriculum design and accreditation processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Carnatic music theory and performance, including raga alapana, kriti rendition, manodharma, and performance techniques
  • Contribute to curriculum development, guide research projects, and participate in academic and administrative committees
  • Provide individual and group instruction to students in practice sessions, performances, and academic research projects
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Carnatic Music or pursuing
  • Published research or performance reviews in recognized journals
  • Experience in teaching at the college/university level
  • Knowledge of music notation software and modern teaching methodologies
