About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Performance Engineer to join our team at Nisum. As a Performance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the scalability and reliability of our software systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design and develop load, stress, capacity, and endurance tests for micro front-ends, application services, and core enterprise services.
  • Write high-quality code that meets our coding standards and contributes to the development of our software systems.
  • Automate performance and capacity testing to enable engineers outside your team to understand the impact of recent code changes.
  • Produce clear and concise performance and capacity testing reports for various audiences, including software engineers, site reliability engineers, and senior leadership.
  • Participate in Communities-of-Practice and continuous education programs to grow your skills and knowledge.
  • Work as a member of a Scrum team and participate in planning, stand-up, and retrospective meetings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in software performance engineering.
  • 2-4 years of experience writing and maintaining performance tests in tools like Apache JMeter.
  • Experience with APM and visibility tools such as AppDynamics, Open Search, and Grafana.
  • Experience working with containerized Java and NodeJS applications in Kubernetes and traditional Virtual Machines with Apache Tomcat.
  • Working knowledge of web technologies, including HTML, HTTP, REST, JSON, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a thorough understanding of relational database systems like Oracle.
  • Knowledge of no-SQL and time series databases like Oracle, Apache Cassandra, and InfluxDB is a plus.
  • Knowledge of core web vitals and measurement tools like SiteSpeed.io, Lighthouse, Chrome Performance Tools, and WebPageTest is a plus.
  • Understanding of source code management tools like Git and core programming practices.
  • Enthusiasm for constant improvement as a software engineer.
  • Ability to review and understand proposed designs and offer thoughtful feedback.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, software development management, software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
