About the Role

As a Geotechnical Rock Engineer, you will work in close collaboration with specialists to deliver projects globally. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Performing engineering analysis and design of rock tunnels, caverns, and underground structures
  • Applying rock mechanics skills and experience to evaluate various failure modes and develop ground support schemes
  • Classifying and characterizing ground conditions for different tunnelling and underground excavation methods
  • Interpreting and organizing design results into project documentation
  • Communicating design work through preparation of drawing sketches
  • Using rock mechanics analysis and design software such as RS2/3, SWEDGE, UNWEDGE, DIPS, UDEC, FLAC/FLAC3D, Plaxis 2D/3D, Sofistik, and/or others
Requirements

To succeed in this position, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering/Rock Mechanics
  • Minimum 2 years of international project design experience in carrying out analysis and design of rock tunnels, caverns, and underground structures
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals, rock mechanics, and tunnelling methods
  • Basic knowledge of typical BIM, such as AutoCAD, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhinoceros, and/or others
  • Basic understanding of rock mass classification and different methods to assess rock mass quality, semi-empirical, and analytical approaches to estimate rock loads and support capacity, dips & wedge analysis pertaining to tunnels
  • Working knowledge of rock mechanics analysis and design software such as RS2/3, SWEDGE, UNWEDGE, DIPS, UDEC, FLAC/FLAC3D, Plaxis 2D/3D, Sofistik, and/or others
  • Knowledge of working with international codes (EURO, Canadian, BS, and API, etc.)
  • Experience within Scandinavian, UK, or North America markets would be considered a plus point
  • Proven ability to collaborate seamlessly across geographical and cultural boundaries
  • Good time-management and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to sustain focus on longer duration tasks
