Job Title: Electrical Systems Designer

This is a challenging role that requires a strong background in electrical engineering and design. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, sizing, and electrical panels, wiring schemes, junction boxes, and cabinets for standard and custom orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and size electrical panels, wiring schemes, junction boxes, and cabinets for standard and custom orders.
  • Perform electrical systems design and calculations, and electrical sizing.
  • Develop electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, electrical system drawings, and electrical layout drawings.
  • Produce engineering documentation, including 2-D schematics, 3-D models, and assemblies, production assembly drawings, and part requirement drawings.
  • Use appropriate tools, including AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical, MS Excel, and Medusa.
  • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout.
  • Create bills of material for electrical panels and components.
  • Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  • Elaborate, study, and calculate project specifications for electrical cables, electrical cables schedule, and power cables.
  • Design and estimate power, control, and instrumentation systems for engine/motor-driven compressors, switchgear, and instruments.
  • Design ATEX-related control circuits, including calculations and documents to show compliance with functional safety and relevant ATEX standards.
  • Review vendor equipment design/data.
  • Interface with other engineering teams and work with groups outside of engineering, including suppliers, contractors, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and service.
  • Support existing install base of control systems and resolve follow-up installation issues.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and factory test engineers to develop cohesive, elegant solutions.
  • Assist proposals and projects teams with engineering documentation as desired and agreed with end users/clients.
  • Develop, plan, and execute testing methods of panels, and compile and analyze test data to determine the effect of design on products, systems, or equipment.
  • Develop or assist in developing specifications for selecting components and equipment to use.
  • Define requirements so products meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Ensure high product performance through proper hardware component choices.
  • Qualify modifications to existing designs through rigorous test standards and processes.
  • Learn team roles and contribute towards team goals.

What We Expect of You:

  • Degree in an Electrical/Instrumentation discipline with 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with EPLAN for electrical design.
  • Knowledge about codes that pertain to hazardous locations, motors, cables.
  • Experience in industrial electrical design.
  • Background in design and manufacturing panels/JB in the oil and gas, pharma, industrial, and any allied industry.
  • Experience with analog, digital, and electro-mechanical circuits, and components, which may include voltage and current regulators, FETs, LCDs, microprocessors, relays, motors, switches, solenoids.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and a problem solver who works well within a team.
  • First experience with EPLAN Preplanning is appreciated.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • CAD experience with emphasis on 2D and 3D.
  • Previous experience in electrical design with CAD tools for industrial projects is appreciated.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), knowledge of SAP and MS Project advantageous.
  • Excellent command of English language, both written and spoken.
