Job Description
  • We seek an experienced Arts and Crafts Teacher who will plan and deliver engaging lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • The ideal candidate will utilise assistive technologies, visual aids, and alternative communication methods to support student participation and engagement.
  • They will promote arts as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaboration with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists is essential to integrate therapeutic goals into artistic activities.
  • Assessment and reporting of student progress using tailored benchmarks are crucial.
  • A safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment must be maintained, and behaviour managed sensitively in line with our positive behaviour support policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's or P.G Diploma in Music, Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferred)
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children in a mainstream school/Special school
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
  • Inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education knowledge are essential
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group singing
  • Familiarity with simple Tamil songs and Bhajans
  • Tamil language proficiency is mandatory
  • Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices is desirable
  • Experience with communication aids is beneficial
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are necessary
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude are required
