Senior Database Administrator (Big Data)

This role oversees the planning, management, and administration of technology within a specific area. The ideal candidate will collaborate with team members to ensure that technology effectively supports enterprise systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of database systems and be able to analyze existing systems to recommend improvements. They will also work closely with IT managers to establish database security structures and ensure Sox compliance.

Key responsibilities include managing and maintaining Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, administering and monitoring Apache Kafka clusters, performing database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, and developing automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible.

The selected individual will collaborate with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms. They will also implement and maintain security best practices across all data platforms.

  • Analyze existing database systems to identify areas for improvement
  • Work with IT Manager to establish database security structures and ensure Sox compliance

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or relevant field
  • 6 years of experience in database administration or relevant field
  • Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL database technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement new technologies effectively
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server
