Job Title: Scientist I

General Mills is seeking a highly skilled Scientist I to join our team in Mumbai. As a key member of our Global Knowledge Services organization, you will play a critical role in driving internal and external innovation, developing differentiated technology, and engendering trust through food safety and quality.

Job Summary

The Scientist I will collaborate with US and India GKS team members to deliver high-value statistical work that advances ITQ initiatives in consumer product research, health and nutrition science, research and development, and quality improvement. You will analyze and interpret data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information, partner effectively with worldwide ITQ clients, create impactful analytics and visualization deliverables, and manage multiple projects independently or with guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Consultation and Business Partnering: Work effectively with clients to identify client needs and success criteria, and translate into clear project objectives, timelines, and plans.
  • Excellent Technical Work: Develop effective strategies for programming and data analysis based on client consultations and project briefs, create high-quality programs for data preparation, data cleaning, statistical analysis, and results validation, and employ sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modeling.
  • Innovation, Continuous Improvement (CI), and Personal Development: Learn and apply a CI mindset to work, seeking opportunities for improvements in efficiency and client value, identify new resources, develop new methods, and seek external inspiration to drive innovations in our work processes, and continually build skills and knowledge in the fields of statistics and the relevant sciences.
Requirements
  • Minimum Degree Requirements: Masters
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience required
  • A good understanding of building statistical models and creating statistical graphics
  • A working knowledge of statistical programming software (e.g., R, Python, SAS) is required. Experience with R programming is necessary. Knowledge of Python, Minitab, and Tableau is a plus.
  • Experience in working on a project from inception to end is desirable.
  • Experience in applying statistics to the sciences is desirable.
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred Major Area of Study: Statistics or other sciences with strong quantitative coursework
  • Preferred Professional Certifications: R, Python, SAS
  • Preferred years of related experience: Three
