About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of designing and developing innovative multi-gas sensor products from concept to production.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and experience working with cross-functional teams. They will be responsible for collaborating with customers, understanding their needs, and designing products that meet market requirements.

You will work closely with electronics, materials, and compliance teams to ensure seamless product integration. Additionally, you will be responsible for optimizing designs for suitability to manufacture, performance, and cost across diverse environmental conditions.

This role requires a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, self-driven, and passionate about innovation.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Take full ownership of the mechanical design of multi-gas sensor products
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and design products with market-fit as the starting point
  • Work closely with electronics, materials, and compliance teams to ensure seamless product integration
  • Optimize designs for suitability to manufacture, performance, and cost across diverse environmental conditions
Requirements

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who has:

  • 5–8 years of experience in mechanical/product design
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design
  • Member of a Formula One Student Team (must-have)
  • Strong aesthetic sense: color, geometry, simplicity
  • Expert in CAD tools: SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Fusion 360, Inventor, CATIA
  • Experience with injection moulding and CNC-based metallic enclosures
  • Experience of NPT, BSP, BSPT threads and machined fittings
  • Experience of FDM/SLA additive manufacturing and CNC basics (laser/milling)
  • Strong grasp of DFM principles and product rollout lifecycle
