Operating Theatre Technician


About the Job:
  • The Operating Theatre Technician will assist in the preparation, maintenance and upkeep of the operating theatre.
  • This includes sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment, arranging surgical tools and supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functional.
  • The technician will also assist in patient preparation, helping in shifting and positioning patients on the operating table, and ensuring patient comfort and correct posture before surgery.

Responsibilities:
  1. Pre-Operative Responsibilities
    • Preparing the Operating Room
    • Sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
    • Arranging surgical tools and supplies
    • Ensuring all equipment is functional
    • Assisting in Patient Preparation
    • Helping in shifting and positioning patients on the operating table
    • Ensuring patient comfort and correct posture before surgery
    • Setting Up Sterile Field
    • Maintaining strict aseptic sterile techniques
  2. Intra-Operative Responsibilities
    • Assisting the Surgical Team
    • Handing instruments to surgeons and nurses during surgery
    • Managing and organizing surgical tools
    • Operating OT equipment like lights, suction, cautery machines, etc.
    • Monitoring Equipment
    • Keeping track of oxygen levels, suction pressure, and other critical equipment
    • Maintaining Sterility
    • Ensuring that the sterile field is not compromised
  3. Post-Operative Responsibilities
    • Cleaning and Disinfection
    • Sterilizing and disinfecting the OT room and instruments after surgery
    • Preparing OT for the next procedure
    • Record Keeping
    • Documenting usage of surgical tools and consumables
    • Maintaining surgical records and stock logs
    • Waste Management
    • Proper disposal of biomedical waste as per hospital protocols
  4. Additional Duties
    • Inventory Management
    • Checking stock of surgical supplies and instruments
    • Requesting replenishment of needed materials
    • Coordination
    • Liaising with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and nurses
    • Ensuring smooth communication and workflow during procedures
    • Emergency Support
    • Being available for emergency surgeries
