Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform synthetic chemistry reactions, reaction work-ups, purification of compounds by column chromatography, crystallization, re-crystallization techniques, preparative TLC, and operate lab equipment with precision.
2. Ensure samples generated during synthesis are provided for analysis, record subsequent results, and update supervisors/group leaders on synthesis progress, ensuring samples are packed appropriately for shipment.
3. Record observations of experiments/reactions, results, resource utilization, and other lab-related activities in the laboratory/e-notebook, adhering to guidelines and timeliness, ensuring safe and confidential handling.
4. Calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain instruments/equipment cleanliness before use, reporting any breakdowns to maintenance immediately.
5. Familiarize yourself with the MSDS of handled chemicals and be aware of emergency response procedures in case of accidental spillage, leakage, or fire, ensuring proper waste segregation according to EHS norms.
6. Attend all mandatory trainings and update training records upon completion.
7. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
8. Prepare SOPs/IOPs/EOPs/OCPs when identifying new lab activities or updating existing ones.
9. Perform other lab responsibilities as indicated by the EHSQ team member/supervisor/group leader.
10. Possess knowledge and exposure to environment, health, and safety (EHS) practices.
11. Adhere to environment, health, and safety (EHS) requirements at all times, ensuring individual and lab/plant safety.
12. Attend training on environment, health, and safety (EHS) measures imparted by the company.
Requirements
MSc (Chemical Sciences)
Technical/Functional Skills:
1. Good knowledge in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and excellent experimental skills (success rate > 80%).
2. Handling of some specialized technical reactions including hazardous/exothermic/sensitive reactions.
3. Familiarity with operations of relevant apparatus - instrument/equipment.
4. Good knowledge of analytical techniques and analytical data interpretation.
5. Good communication skills.
Experience:
6-11 years
Behavioral Skills:
1. Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
2. Good interpersonal skills.
3. Good team player.
