Job Overview:

The Production Merchandiser plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless coordination of garment production, quality control, and delivery. This position involves enhancing processes, monitoring performance, and collaborating with teams to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Development:
    • Select suitable fabrics, trims, and accessories by analyzing market trends and consumer preferences.
    • Work closely with the Production Manager to develop prototypes, including fabric selection, construction, fit, and quality standards.
    • Evaluate and approve samples to guarantee they meet design specifications and quality requirements.
  • Planning and Scheduling:
    • Create detailed yearly and monthly production plans based on order requirements, capacity, and lead times to ensure timely delivery.
    • Optimize resource allocation, including materials and labor, to minimize waste and maximize productivity.
    • Maintain adequate inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to prevent production delays.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Cultivate relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure favorable deals.
    • Ensure consistent quality and prompt delivery of fabric and trims.
  • Costing and Budgeting:
    • Predict and manage production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
    • Monitor expenses to stay within budget and identify areas for cost reduction without compromising quality.
    • Collaborate with the finance department to negotiate pricing, terms, and discounts to optimize profitability.
  • Quality Control:
    • Establish quality benchmarks and guidelines for production to maintain high standards.
