Cloud Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Database Administrator to lead our database operations in the Azure cloud environment.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure services, with expertise in database design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization. They will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of data for various applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and monitor HA/DR strategies such as Always On Availability Groups, geo-replication, and failover groups to ensure business continuity and data resilience.
  • Plan and execute robust backup and restore operations, validate recovery procedures, and ensure compliance with Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Monitor database performance using Azure Monitor, SQL Insights, and Query Store. Identify and resolve bottlenecks by optimizing queries, indexes, and resource allocation.
  • Provision, configure, and manage Azure SQL Databases, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. This includes sizing, scaling, and automation of database resources.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience working on Azure MS-SQL databases.
  • Experience with designing and architecting Public cloud environments such as Oracle OCI or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with managing Oracle OCI or Azure VM, Network and Security.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database security principles and implementation.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
