Job Title: Laboratory Operations Manager

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory operations to ensure efficient, accurate and cost-effective testing of patient samples.

  • Coordinate with HOD to manage laboratory activities.
  • Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance and harmony with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training on laboratory test procedures and sample collection processes.
  • Manage daily operations, including turn-around-time of laboratory tests and preparing standard operating procedures.
  • Design methods for continuous process improvements to ensure reliable results.
  • Prepare and submit departmental MIS reports for review by the HOD.
  • Maintain proper coordination between all laboratory processes, including specimen collection, accessioning and conducting tests.
  • Preparation of manpower roster in accordance with section requirements.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly review of QC results as per defined QC protocols.
  • Supervise and ensure proper functioning of instruments, including performance checks and validation/verification acceptance.
  • Monthly analysis of QC data to plan corrective actions and preventive measures for outliers.
  • Involvement in preparation of monthly section reports.
  • Assess calibration, control and acceptability of analytical results.
  • Weekly monitoring of NABL and CAP compliances (SOPs and QCs).
  • Effective management of materials and resources to ensure competitive market price of tests.
  • Evaluate new instruments and technologies for better quality results at affordable costs.
  • Presentation of departments for international audits as necessary.
  • Instituting timely corrective actions for sub-optimal proficiency test results and non-Quality Assurance conformances raised during audits.
  • Designing and executing Quality Improvement Programs in the laboratory.
  • Coordinating inter-lab proficiency programs in departments.
  • Resolution of technical queries from patients, doctors and collection centers regarding test offerings and reports.
  • Furnishing literature support for disputed results as needed.
  • Managing human resources, including staff rotation and interviewing candidates for new recruitments.
  • Productivity management of staff, including maintaining employee relations.
