US Tax Associate Job Opportunity

The role involves working as a US Tax Associate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The position requires in-office attendance on specific days with remote work for the remainder of the week.

As a US Tax Associate, your day-to-day tasks will include tax compliance, tax preparation, and providing expert advice on tax matters.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns along with other tax elections.
  • Apply provisions of US tax treaty to cross-border tax transactions.
  • Assist with Sales tax filings and registrations.
  • Assist with cross-border transactions and other tax planning initiatives.
  • Prepare assigned sections of working papers to support income tax return filings.
  • Assist with government tax audits, including analytical support, information collection, response preparation, and direct interaction with clients.
  • Collaborate closely with partners and senior staff to develop effective strategies and client tax planning assignments.
  • Establish relationships with clients and gain a solid understanding of their business.
  • Develop process management expertise (planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling).
  • Manage projects during tax season.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in preparing/reviewing 1040 personal income tax returns and 1120 corporate income tax returns.
  • Public accounting experience (preferably in tax).
  • Effective communication with clients for tax matters.
  • Bachelor's degree – preferably in accounting.
  • Prior experience with Master's of Commerce considered an asset.
  • Ability to complete engagement with limited supervision.
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
