Cloud Database Architect

Job Description:

We seek an experienced Cloud Database Architect to lead our team in designing, implementing, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases within the Azure cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with expertise in Azure Administration and MS-SQL Administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high-availability, performance, and security strategies for data in various applications.
  • Provision, configure, and manage Azure SQL Databases, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Monitor database performance using Azure Monitor, SQL Insights, and Query Store, identifying and resolving bottlenecks by optimizing queries, indexes, and resource allocation.
  • Plan and execute robust backup and restore operations, validate recovery procedures, and ensure compliance with Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Support the lifecycle management of business-critical applications, including installing patches, performing upgrades, managing releases, and administration tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with development and production environments.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience working on Azure MS-SQL databases.
  • Lead administrator experience, with expertise in designing and architecting public clouds such as Oracle OCI or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with managing Oracle OCI or Azure VM, Network, and Security.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).
  • Experience with SQL server Upgrade and Migration to Azure.
  • Experience with large-scale complex database architecture with Replications and DR.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database security principles and implementation.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
