Job Title: Embedded Systems Architect

Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure team is seeking a skilled firmware architect to power the company's Intelligent Cloud mission.

The Firmware Center of Excellence develops Hardware Firmware for Azure Infrastructure. We work on next-generation Hardware Firmware for server, silicon, and rack infrastructure with a focus on innovation in firmware technology.

About the Role
  • Participate in product development, from pre-silicon to post-silicon phases, and data center deployment.
  • Lead firmware development, driving execution, and defining strategies.
  • Collaborate with silicon teams, architects, and program management for daily operations and long-term roadmap improvements.
  • Contribute to firmware component architecture and design.
  • Mentor peers and assist team members.
  • Identify inefficiencies and gaps in architecture, development, and execution.
  • Advocate for engineering excellence within the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 14 years of experience in firmware development, particularly in multi-core platforms.
  • 10 years of programming experience in C, C++, Rust.
  • Solid understanding of computer architectures.
  • Experience with device drivers, U-Boot, TFA, UEFI, bootloader design.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on root cause analysis and debugging.
  • Strong defensive coding skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
