API Platform Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled API Platform Specialist to join our team. As an API Platform Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing APIGEE Hybrid runtime planes on Kubernetes clusters.

You will work closely with our API teams to support API proxy deployments, troubleshoot runtime issues, and optimize platform performance. Your expertise in Terraform, Helm charts, and automation scripting using Bash/Shell and Python will enable you to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks.

Additionally, you will collaborate with network, security, and cloud teams to configure secure and compliant environments. If you have hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters, automating infrastructure with Terraform, and managing Kubernetes applications using Helm charts, we encourage you to apply.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with APIGEE Hybrid platform deployment and runtime management. Familiarity with APIGEE X and API management concepts is also required. Proficiency in scripting with Bash/Shell and Python, along with solid Google Cloud Platform (GCP) knowledge, is essential.

We are looking for someone who can develop and maintain automation scripts to simplify complex tasks. Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines, such as Jenkins or GitLab CI, is a plus. • Design, deploy, and manage APIGEE Hybrid runtime planes on Kubernetes clusters (GKE, AKS, or on-prem Kubernetes).
• Perform installation, upgrades, patching, and maintenance of APIGEE Hybrid and APIGEE X environments.
• Manage APIGEE runtime components including Message Processors, Synchronizers, and Cassandra clusters within Kubernetes.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment using Terraform and Helm charts.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash/Shell and Python to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks.
• Collaborate with API teams to support API proxy deployments, troubleshoot runtime issues, and optimize platform performance.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for APIGEE platform deployments and API lifecycle management.
• Monitor platform health, capacity planning, and perform troubleshooting for runtime and infrastructure issues.
• Work closely with network, security, and cloud teams to configure secure and compliant environments.
• Support multi-cloud and hybrid cloud deployment strategies, ensuring seamless integration and governance.
• Document platform architecture, operational procedures, and automation workflows.

• Strong experience with APIGEE Hybrid platform deployment and runtime management.
• Familiarity with APIGEE X and API management concepts.
• Experience with API proxy development, debugging, and policy implementation.
• Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters (GKE, AKS, or on-prem).
• Proficient in deploying and managing containerized applications using Helm charts.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, ingress controllers, and service mesh is a plus.
• Extensive experience with Terraform for provisioning cloud and Kubernetes resources.
• Experience using the Terraform Helm provider to deploy applications on Kubernetes.
• Strong skills in Bash/Shell scripting and Python for automation and operational tasks.
• Experience developing automation pipelines for deployment and monitoring.
• Solid understanding of Google Cloud Platform services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM).
• Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build).
• Experience integrating APIGEE deployments into automated pipelines.
• Understanding of network security, firewall rules, VPNs, and cloud security best practices.
• Knowledge of API security standards and compliance requirements.
