Medical Illustrator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Illustrator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for creating accurate and visually compelling medical and scientific illustrations that communicate complex concepts with clarity.

Your primary focus will be on producing high-quality 2D/3D medical and surgical illustrations, anatomical drawings, and journal cover visuals. You will work closely with scientific writers and clients to understand technical content and translate it into precise and impactful visuals.

You will be required to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in representing scientific and medical subjects. This includes working on a wide variety of projects, including medical figure enhancements, journal covers, graphical abstracts, and educational diagrams.

Additionally, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining design excellence. You will also need to ensure scientific accuracy in every deliverable by reviewing source material and verifying details.

  • Create high-quality 2D/3D medical and surgical illustrations, anatomical drawings, and journal cover visuals.
  • Collaborate with scientific writers and clients to understand technical content and translate it into precise and impactful visuals.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in representing scientific and medical subjects.
  • Work on a wide variety of projects, including medical figure enhancements, journal covers, graphical abstracts, and educational diagrams.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining design excellence.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Medical Illustration, Biomedical Visualization, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience as a Medical Illustrator (or related role in scientific/medical visualization).
  • A strong portfolio showcasing anatomical, surgical, and scientific illustrations.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with experience with 3D illustration tools (e.g., Blender, Cinema4D, ZBrush, or equivalent) being a strong plus.
