About this role:

Evaluate the performance of our Elasticsearch and Splunk clusters to identify developing problems, ensuring optimal system health and resilience.

We are looking for a skilled professional to plan changes for upcoming high-load events, applying security fixes as needed to maintain system integrity.

Key responsibilities include testing and performing incremental upgrades, as well as maintaining other parts of the data pipeline, including serverless or server-based systems feeding data into the Elasticsearch pipeline.

Ongoing optimization of our cost-vs-performance position is also a key objective, achieved through testing new hosts or configurations.

Automation expertise is essential; we use declarative tools like Puppet and various scripting mechanisms depending on the target environment.

Essential skills and qualifications:

  • Experience with a variety of infrastructure and operations teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to build long-lasting partnerships across the organization.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation and handling escalated issues as needed.
  • Expertise in provisioning and configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Rundeck.
  • Proficiency in building automations and infrastructure as code using Terraform, Packer or CloudFormation templates.
  • Scripting languages like Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, Perl, etc.
  • Monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Prometheus, PagerDuty, etc.
  • CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Pipelines, Artifactory, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related discipline required.
  • Expertise in administration and management of Elasticsearch clusters.
