About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Principal Database Engineer to join our team, who can design, build, and implement database and data engineering solutions to meet the needs of our organization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, including open-source tools on public cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Development – Design and build database and data engineering solutions to serve needs across the organization.
  2. Management – Install, configure, monitor, and manage databases like MSSQL Server, SSAS, SSIS in Azure, AWS, and GCP multiple data center and/or multiple regions.
  3. Modeling – Apply expertise to help model structured and unstructured data based on usage of access patterns. Own these models at a high level, and consult with feature teams to help them model applications.
  4. Integration – Plan and build data integrations between systems. Figure out the best way to share information and build the technology needed to execute.
  5. Performance Tuning – Build highly performant NoSQL/RDBMS solutions and help troubleshoot problem areas for unmatched performance and reliability.
  6. Stewardship – Own or support the data definitions and lineage across our organization. Define systems of record and catalog operational and nonoperational data stores. Consult with feature teams on how to get them the data they need.
  7. Pipelining – Engineer reusable capabilities and pipelines for DML, DDL, maintenance, and ETL needs that can be shared across teams.
  8. Operations – Manage database operations, cover oncall, accessibility tools, security, and develop and manage solutions for observability and monitoring.
  9. Mentoring – Help teach other team members about data architecture, and also be a consultant for developers who need help with data.
  10. Learning – Stay current on technical knowledge and tooling to help the team utilize new technologies.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
  2. 8+ years of experience in a DBA role, primarily with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and later
  3. 5+ years of experience on Oracle databases
  4. 3+ years on PostgreSQL and MySQL
  5. Experience in OLTP environments and proficient in SQL server installations, administration, updates, and upgrades
  6. Create and manage multiple databases, assist in capacity planning and monitor system's health and performance
  7. Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security
  8. Create and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for SQL Server
  9. Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users)
  10. Develop strategies and implement solutions for managing back-ups, restoration, and replication
  11. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes including diagrams of database infrastructure
  12. Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  13. Great team player and time-management skills
  14. Strong experience in Azure, AWS, and GCP public clouds
  15. Experience with data lake, data warehouse, and data mart are a big plus
  16. Certification in RDBMS or NoSQL Databases
  17. Azure, AWS, and GCP Certification
