Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer to join our team. As the backbone of our data layer, Snowflake requires a hands-on expert who can own end-to-end administration, security, performance optimization, and automation.

This role is not advisory; you will be building, tuning, and scripting every day to ensure our SaaS platform is fast, cost-efficient, and secure at scale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Snowflake Account Administration: Act as Snowflake Account Admin across multiple accounts, warehouses, and databases.
  • Security and RBAC Policies: Design and enforce multi-tenant security and RBAC policies to protect customer data.
  • Tenant Usage Management: Create and manage roles, warehouses, schemas, and integrations for scalable tenant usage.
  • Query and Warehouse Optimization: Lead query and warehouse optimization — clustering, partitioning, scaling, caching, scheduling — to maximize performance and minimize cost.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Implement continuous monitoring for optimization opportunities (performance + cost).
  • Automation Pipelines: Build automation pipelines that not only recommend but execute optimizations (warehouse scaling, auto-suspend policies, query improvements).
  • Data Engineering Scripts: Write Python-based automation and data engineering scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaboration: Partner with data engineers and product teams to design efficient data pipelines and data models.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years in Data Engineering / Database Systems Engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Snowflake account administration in enterprise or SaaS environments.
  • Proven Expertise in Snowflake Optimization: Query tuning, warehouse scaling, clustering, caching.
  • Strong SQL and Python Skills: Data engineering and automation.
  • Multi-Tenant Security and RBAC Experience: Snowflake.
  • Cloud Platform Familiarity: AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Startup Mindset: Hands-on, automation-driven, optimization-first thinker.
Bonus Requirements:
  • SnowPro Advanced Certification: Database Admin or Architect.
  • Terraform, dbt, or Automation Frameworks: Snowflake provisioning.
  • FinOps / Cloud Cost Optimization Practices: Background.
  • Regulated SaaS Environments: SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR, PCI experience.
  • Multi-Tenant SaaS Architectures: Prior experience.
Success Metrics (First 3 – 6 Months):
  • Secure Multi-Tenant Environment: Deliver a secure, multi-tenant Snowflake environment with strong RBAC and data isolation.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Establish continuous monitoring for performance and cost optimization, surfacing actionable insights.
  • Automation Efficiency: Build automation that executes optimization recommendations, reducing manual overhead and driving measurable efficiency gains.
